Mana satu jalanku…..?

Posted on Updated on

salam,

    Assalamualaikum warahmatullah Anakanda Aisyah,

I always tell and share this opinion with people who are at crossroads concerning this matter…

My opinion is that, we should be open-minded and extend our sight such that, in terms of establishing the Word of Allah, zealous efforts need to be carried out through many quarters…it is not sufficient to focus just in one approach.

We should encourage Muslims (especially in Malaysia) to polish up their strengths in various fields…Some may be active in politics, some in special interest groups some in welfare bodies and I, myself in an NGO like JIM; all for the purpose of enjoining good, forbidding evil. In fact, in 1001 areas…to ensure that the beauty of Islam can make itself heard and felt to as many people as possible. To solve a problem, (especially in engineering, likewise in this matter) there are many methods and approaches….we just have to try hard in each method that we choose…

Maybe there are some differences…these are just reconcilable differences in emphasis, approaches and methods, whereas, in reality, we are all ONE. Isn’t that the beauty of Islam? Differences in opinions and approach are branches in the tree, the strength that we have. We still hold firm to the root of the tree, the fundamentals…which is being one. Because, some people may not take into politics easily, while others prefer to work in their various specialties…

We all meet in one straight line at the tree trunk…

Yes! We may differ in our approaches and the way we see things, but we must remember that those differences should not hinder us from joining our hands together. Nobody is perfect. It is also impossible for one particular group to do EVERYTHING. One group might be very good in one thing while another would be good in another thing. Likewise, one group might have weaknesses at one corner, but the other one in another. If we complement each other, then we become complete. And we become stronger too!

I once heard this from one talk which I attended. Can’t really remember now. But here is the thing:

Imam Hanafi is of the opinion that it is not necessary for qunut doa in fajr prayers while Imam Shafie enjoins it. Each has their own strong reasons. However, whenever Imam Shafie goes over to Imam Hanafi’s masjid was asked to lead the fajr prayers, he wont do the qunut. When asked why, he said he respects Imam Hanafi’s opinion. Likewise, when when Imam Hanafi goes over to Imam Shafie’s territory and then asked to lead fajr prayers, he would do the qunut doa. And he gave the same answer. Respect.

So, the key word is respect. This is a very important point. For if we have respect for each other, then our dignity and integrity will be preserved. What is more important than that?

Agree to disagree in small matters, in matters concerning branchers (not concerning main and fundamental principles i.e. the tree trunk) which may be very varied and colourful. Yes! Variations add colour. It is like we are throwing stones to let the fruits fall. We need to try many angles and variations. Our mad’u come from many different backgrounds. So, we need a variety of approaches.

Remember too, that, we are not and we MUST not be calling people to the body or ‘jamaah’ that we are in or certain individual whom we deemed knowledgeable. BUT we must call people to the message of Islam itself…so that each know the greatness of the words of Allah, the beauty of Islam as a way of life and Rasulullah as our exemplary guide.

One thing is for sure…The enemies of Islam come in various shapes and sizes. Likewise, we need to combat them in all shapes and sizes that we can lay our hands on, becoming one in the process and then only will Allah bestow upon us the strength and victory in the end…

May Allah have mercy upon us…Amin…

    Wasalam,

      Waalaikumsalam warahmatullah Ibunda Umi,

it was a great honor for me to see your voice here. Ternyata makcik sumber inspirasi anak muda seperti saya.

I agree with your opinion makcik. The only thing that always concern me is that thhe juniors have been provoked and exposed with these issues before we had the chance to nurture them with the right understanding of Islam and tarbiyah.

They have to choose which jemaah to join when the understanding of Islam and dakwah are still immature, and we know this by minglinwith them.

Some of them confused and even withdraw themselves from the usrah regarding because of this matter. and I always wish that everyone understand islam and dakwah first before they committed to any jemaah.

Another issue is we always heard from the juniors what they have been told by other party regarding our jemaah. cerita-cerita lama dan tak tepat dan tentu sekali menguji kesabaran kita dalam menghandle soalan-soalan yang mereka ini.

insyaallah i will write my thought properly when the times come. ( now ramai adik2 tengah exam)

Jazakillah again makcik umi. Please do come again and share your opinion. We need it . 🙂
